Pete has been teaching music privately for a wide range of ages and abilities since 2005. From 2008-2014 he worked as a peripatetic music teacher for Leeds City Council, providing widespread learning experiences for beginner to advanced level in bass guitar, acoustic guitar, latin music, rock/pop ensembles, improvisation and composition. Pete has completed several cruise ship contracts for P&O, working aboard the Ventura and Oceana. As a guest entertainer he was responsible for running their successful 'Rockschool' program tutoring groups of children in a rock band scenario, leading up to a final performance. Working as a creative practitioner for Live Music Now, Pete has been involved in the organising and running a number of community and educational music projects throughout Yorkshire and London.
Pete's teaching style is relaxed and positive with a focus on the enjoyment of making music. With an understanding that everybody learns differently, Pete strives to find the best approach for the individual student. Although Pete has template lesson plans ready to go, he prefers to work with his students to develop their own personal long-term goals such as sight reading, developing stylistic awareness or technique. This approach brings focus to the lesson, concentrating on the key areas that will benefit the students' musical progression.
Pete is happy to teach from a specific syllabus if requested, though he prefers to create a pathway of learning using a combination of wants and needs of the student.

Pete is a very patient teacher. He always makes me feel comfortable in my lessons and his approach makes me excited to learn more. Since starting with him I've improved so much and I am a much more confident player. Thanks Pete!"
Pete is a patient and enthusiastic teacher. His lessons are always individualised and he makes the extra effort to cater for my music interests, tabbing some of my favourite songs and adapting them for my skill level. We move between a variety of music genres and he's skilled in playing all these styles. Whilst learning familiar songs, he brings in techniques and good guitar playing habits which will prove vital when moving towards more complicated tunes. We also bring in scales, allowing me to improvise in the solo sections of songs; something I'd never been able to do before and a transferable skill for all songs. His technical skills enhance the lessons for example when he slows a track down to a speed that I can play along to whilst learning, or he loops a part of a song so that I can repeatedly practice a tricky bit."
