As a teacher, I have worked with students both young and old, on a variety of different styles. I have been teaching freelance for several years and also work for Roundhay Music service, teaching in schools across Leeds and the surrounding areas.
As a performer I have worked in a professional capacity as a soloist, accompanist and ensemble member. I have worked with the New Music Collective, LCoM Part-song choir, Leeds SU Camerata Orchestra which have been on tour to Germany, the Holy Trinity Flute Choir, LCoM Chamber Orchestra and Symphonic wind ensemble.
I accompany students regularly for their grade exams and have worked with a number of musicians on concerts across Yorkshire.
I am also a member of professional touring Clarinet and Piano duo, Reed & Ivory.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is friendly and engaging but most importantly, it is always geared towards the students needs. I believe it is incredibly important for the student to take charge, with careful and considered guidance from the tutor.
A good relationship with the tutor is essential. I would not be where I am today without the respect and appreciation I have had for my music tutors. I strongly believe that lessons must be as open as possible, where a student can approach me with any difficulties they are experiencing, thoughts or ideas they may have with regards to the Piano.
A student with me will learn how to become technically accomplished, musically engaging and will develop a wider knowledge of Music history and the genre that they are playing.
Syllabi
My students can follow any of the 3 major Music Syllabi, ABRSM, LCM or Trinity College. However I would recommend either ABRSM or LCM.
With Music theory, ABRSM is the most accomplished syllabus therefore I will always present this first and foremost.

I teach from my home in Headingley (LS6) where I have a full sized Piano to teach on. I am also willing to travel as I do with several students but this will be negotiable depending on location and cost to myself.
