Experience:
I have been around guitars from a very early age, and started to play seriously around age 14, taking an interest in Rock music. Since then I have been in many bands ranging in styles and influences, performing regularly, with my appreciation for music widening. Over the past 4 years I have used my playing skills in many different situations, ranging from recording rock, funk and pop tracks to accompanying church services on acoustic and classical guitar to performing on stage using a combination of electric guitar and laptop.
In addition I have much experience in the computer based music field, recording, editing, mixing and producing tracks in a wide range of styles. Some examples would range from producing EPs for Rock acts to recording sessions with a full Brass Band.
Teaching Style:
I firmly believe that each student is individual in both their reasons for playing and wanting to learn an instrument, and it is my job help them attain their goals. For this reason I adopt a relaxed and flexible teaching style, ensuring that the student is fully comfortable with what they are learning and encouraging students to ask questions as often as possible.
Syllabi:
As every pupil is individual, my main aim is to tailor a personal development program for each pupil, taking into account their personal musical tastes, goals and reasons for studying the guitar. To achieve this, each pupil will be offered a study program showing how their lessons, exercises and practice will develop to achieve their desired targets. To conclude each program of study, a review will be given followed by a discussion with the pupil of their next targets, and how each of these can be met.
In addition I am happy to teach and follow any of the established guitar grades if this is what the pupil wishes or would prefer.
Specialties:
In essence I am a popular music musician focusing on styles such as Rock, Pop, Funk, Soul, Metal, Punk, etc, though I have had experience playing in most genres including Jazz and Classical. I feel that this has given me a great understanding of how all styles of music interlink, influencing and effecting each other and so am able to teach students new genres whilst understanding and showing the pupil how it links with what they already know and are comfortable with.
In addition, my skills in computer based music can be offered to aid students in recording and developing their songs, ideas and work.

I recommend teaching in my home, as the pupil will have access to a much wider range of equipment and the possibility to record and listen back to their playing. This may also be required for some of the additional services on offer.
Alternatively, I am happy to travel around the Leeds area if this suits you more, though additional charges may be incurred for excessive travel.
